“The Meat of the Fruit” is the debut album by The Sour Notes. It was written and recorded by Jared Boulanger whilst living in a garage apartment in the Heights in Houston, TX during 2007 and released in 2008 after he had quit his job as a graphic designer and moved to Austin, TX.

This album was recorded at home by Jared Boulanger in Houston, TX. It was mixed by Steve Christensen at the Treehouse and mastered by Joe LaPorta at the Lodge. It has neat packaging designed by Rene Cruz and features additional vocal contributions from Sarah Harrison, Heba Kadry, and Liz Molina.
